So, quick post, but a couple things. One of which is that we have no internet in our rooms until the 22nd. So the posts will be short until then. But hopefully will also continue to be after that, so I don't bore you all. But this lack of internet has been quite trying. I really want to skype with people and everything, but I've learned how reliant I am on the internet! Crazy.

Also, driving. It's so weird. I haven't driven, but watching cars is bizarre. It was quite disconcerting when I watched a man hail a taxi, and climb into the driver's side door. Which is not the driver's side over here. And the cars come from the other direction while crossing the street. So I have to fully stop and look and everything. Bizarre.

catching the sunrise

So today has been a remarkably long and short day. I'm getting to the point where I really have no idea what time it is, ever. I just know when I'm hungry, and I know when I'm tired. But aside from that confusion, it has been a great day. I left the airport last night around 7 (after only a few minor bag problems... did you know they weigh CARRY ONS??) and flew through the night. It was great--I got to see the sunset (gorgeous), when i dozed off then woke up confused about what was going on, I peeked out the window and saw the great Ursa Major constellation, and then I also got to see the sunrise. All within 7 hours!

Then I arrived in Dublin, waited a few minutes, and figured out that yes, Ireland too has Scooby Doo, since it was playing loudly on the TV. It has been a whirlwind of information ever since We have met people, walked around the city, got our housing, lugged suitcases up lots of stairs, and have just had an overall great time. It really does seem as if it's not really real yet though... there were many times today when I was walking around then just thought, oh wait, I'M IN DUBLIN!!! I saw a sign for Trinity and thought "I'm going to Trinity this year!" and then thought, wait, that sign was in the window of the TRINITY LIBRARY. That makes sense.

But it's all very cool, very European, small cars, old men riding around on their bicycles, and tons of fantastic accents! We did see some sort of parade with a ton of balloons and the cars honking, and we're not quite sure what that's for. And there are many signs about the Lisbon Treaty! All very interesting. All right, I'm off to go attempt to unpack for a little while, then go to bed, because I am tired!!!!

Well, I made it! Just a quick note, because we're off to the town, trying to fight jetlag, but AP is now in Dublin!

Before Leaving

So, I'm just going to start out by saying that in no way do I promise to write on this in any sort of schedule... I'll just write as the Spirit moves me. So enjoy reading it if you've got some spare time and wanna know what I'm up to!

So I'm starting the process of packing... It has involved laying out tons of clothes and just repeating to myself... "Live Simply, Live Simply" and then getting rid of tons of clothes. I think I'm finally narrowing it down now though and getting them into my two suitcases.

I can barely believe this is actually happening!! I can't believe I'll be in another country for a year! But happening it is, and I'll be off soon! I'm sure that when I get there, I'll have more to say, but for now, this is it!
